Family Photos: 3 Tips For Pinterest-ready Pictures

Updated: Apr 15, 2021

So, you've found your photographer and booked your session- great! Now what? You know you'd love to hang a beautiful family photo on your wall, but you're just not sure how to get that look. We get it- families can be slammed just trying to manage their day-to-day activities. That's where we step in! Here are our top 3 tips to help make your family photos a breeze.

CHOOSE A COLOR PALETTE

This is probably the most important piece of the puzzle when it comes to that Pinterest-ready shot you’re looking for. This is what is going to create that cohesive look without everyone having to match or wear the same color. If you’re not sure where to begin, head to our Pinterest page to browse some ideas. You can also shop at your favorite store to see what colors are in for the season. Stick with at least 3 colors and no more than 6, choosing a couple of neutrals and 2-3 pops of color.

KNOW YOUR LOCATION AND PLAN ACCORDINGLY

Just like you wouldn't head out on a family getaway without knowing where you're going, the same rules should apply when deciding where to take your photos. Maybe you’ve chosen an outdoor location at golden hour or you’re staying indoors for a cozy newborn photoshoot. What’s important here is that you know your location. Choose colors that aren’t going to blend in and get lost with your surroundings. At the same time, we don’t want you to clash with your environment either.

WEAR SOMETHING YOU LOVE

We always say that the best outfit for you is the one that you feel so good wearing that you don’t give it a second thought after you’re dressed for the day (other than to think, “Dang, I look good!”). When you’re wearing something you love, you will smile more, and pictures will flow more naturally. This goes for the whole family- comfortable kids are happy kids, no matter what their age. For more tips on this check out our awesome blog post.

There you have it- amazing pictures really don’t have to be difficult, and with a little planning and effort you can definitely pull it off.
